How Know Your Memecoin Works
Know Your Meme is the certificate. This is the launchpad. One coin per meme, ever.
How It Works
The Catalog Is Know Your Meme
Every confirmed entry in the Know Your Meme encyclopedia has a page here, with the same title, image, year, type and tags. Know Your Meme is checked every two minutes; when its editors confirm a new meme, it appears here within minutes, open to launch. Nothing is added by hand and nothing can be invented: if it is not a confirmed meme there, it cannot be a coin here.
One Child Coin Per Meme
Each meme can be launched exactly once, as a child coin of $MEME. The first wallet to launch it gets the meme's one official child coin; its contract address is written on the meme's page and the page closes. There is no second Doge, no third Pepe, no vamp with a different picture: the pad will not create one, and the catalog shows which coin is the real one.
The Image Is Fixed
The coin's image is the meme's own image from the encyclopedia, squared by the pad and written into the coin's metadata. The launcher never uploads a picture. The name is the meme's title; the website in the metadata is the meme's page here. The launcher chooses the ticker and the description.
$MEME Is The Mother Coin
$MEME is an ordinary pump.fun coin paired to SOL. Every child coin trades against $MEME instead of SOL. When someone buys a child coin with SOL, pump.fun buys $MEME first, then the child coin, in one transaction. Every child coin launched here is buy pressure on $MEME.
$MEME Buybacks
$MEME earns pump.fun's creator fee on its own trades. 100% of it is routed to the tech wallet, which every 3 minutes, once at least $100 has accrued, claims it, spends 90% buying $MEME and burns what it bought (10% stays for gas). Every claim, buy and burn is a linked transaction on the Buybacks page.
Child Coin Rewards
Every child coin is created with pump.fun's rewards switched on at 1%, permanently. 1% of every trade of a child coin is paid out to that child coin's holders, in $MEME, in proportion to what they hold, roughly every 10 minutes, by pump.fun. Nobody claims; nobody can turn it off. Whoever holds the child coin at the moment of a payout is paid, so a wallet that buys just before a payout and sells after is paid for that round. $MEME itself pays no rewards; it is the pair. See Child Coin Rewards for what has been paid, measured from the chain.
Launching
Connect a Solana wallet, open any meme that is still open, pick a ticker, and press Launch. You confirm one transaction. You pay pump.fun's creation cost (about 0.02 SOL) and nothing to us. The pad holds no keys and takes no fee.
