Yuri!!! on Ice is a Japanese sports anime series about figure skating.[1] It follows the life of Japanese figure skater Yuri Katsuki who draws the attention of his idol, Russian figure skater Victor Nikiforov, after a secretly-recorded video of Katsuki doing one of Nikiforov's routines is posted to the internet. Nikiforov decides to coach Katsuki as Katsuki takes on his rival, Yuri Plisetsky. The series is notable for its queer subtext in the homosexual undertones in the relationship between Nikiforov and Katsuki. The series is produced by MAPPA and directed by Sayo Yamomoto.
